In other news, I am off to New Orleans for my birthday and to promote the record. Then in January, my publisher and I go to MIDEM, the big music conference in the South of France. I know, poor me - but someone's got to drink wine, eat croissants and play guitar on the French Riviera.

For the brave troops out there in the world - I've made a new page for you. Come Home Soon and Safe!

Thanks to all my family and friends who have been so supportive of me this last year. Lots of action and many changes. I am blessed to have you all in my life and I wish you all the very best New Year. 2004 = 6. And six gives us a truly outstanding sense of responsibility, love, and balance. The 6 is helpful and ever conscientious, making us quite capable of rectifying and balancing any sort of inharmonious situation. It's a good year for devoting ourselves to pursuits that show concern for the betterment of our home and community. Wishing you all balance, love and harmony.

Thank god the fires are out and many people and homes and animals were saved by those brave fire fighters. Excellent!

You can order here at The Pop Shop now and, if you order by Christmas, I'll send you a little prezzie (I'm Telling Santa!).

It's very smoky here in L.A. I prayed for rain tonight as I watched the most orange and fiery sun set into a thick gray sky. Rain...rain... rain... and help the fire fighters, the people and the forests of California.

As for the record - mastering TOMMORROW - art finished - manufacturing ASAP. Chasing Lunatics will be available for Christmas!!!

I am thrilled. I'll be traveling to the south of France in January for MIDEM (the largest music trade show in the world) to try to secure a worldwide distribution deal. It'll be great. People will soon be able to chase lunatics globally.

BREAKING NEWS: Treetop Records has selected Perry McCutcheon as the winner for the logo contest. We will upload the winning logo soon and give more details in the next newsletter. Till then, be safe and happy Halloween.

Here are a couple of photos from my extensive tour earlier this year. The first, on the rooftop at the Women's Festival in Long Beach - and the second from the Living Room in New York City. Notice how the hair is LONGER.

I've taken some time off touring in order to finsh the long anticipated record we are creating. Chasing Lunatics is soon to be released! I know I keep saying that - but really, we are putting on the finishing touches and it is sounding GREAT. Stay posted.

What else? I am moving and expanding my studio! I am thrilled and will provide more details soon.

Get ready for the Fall Equinox on September 23 at 2:47AM PST. It's a time to meditate on staying balanced - along with the hours of the day. The day and night will be equal in time/length on the 23rd and 24th - so take a breath and stay centered! Deborah Deborah

Here I am live on the radio at WWOZ in New Orleans

There is a lovely full moon in the sky and the clouds have finally cleared here in L.A. New York was fantastic - even in the rain, rain, rain. My show at The Living Room went famously. I played on the piano that Norah played on and, even with the B natural key bumping into the the Bb string, it was great fun. One friend flew in from Los Angeles and surprised me. I ate WELL, saw the museums, walked through Central Park, took dance class with Luigi and saw the excellent Thoroughly Modern Millie. Go see it if you can!
We are mixing the record and finalizing the art work. Soon! Thanks to those of you who wrote to respond to the newsletter. I am glad you had fun with it and I hope you are practicing those polyrhythms! I was recently interviewed by Dr. John M. Zeigler and the article is posted now at pianoeducation.org. Have a happy summer solstice - official Summer begins on June 21st at 11:10 AM (PST) when the sun leaves Gemini and enters Cancer. We can honor the longest day of the year (when we are the closest to the sun) by celebrating passion and success. (oh yeah, and look for fairies in the fields on the night before!)

Just back from Jazz Fest in New Orleans. It's difficult to put it into words. So much happened. So many great things to report. Infact, the whole trip has inspired me to start a new section on my site called essays.

Let's see, words... radio, amazing non-stop music, hot jazz, love, friends, yummy food, perfect weather, colorful kites, blowing bubbles, Bob Dylan, Fats Domino,an abundance of Nevilles, grand pianos, slide guitars, mango freezes, Orchesta De La Papaya, all night dancing, Amasa Miller, WWOZ, Cajun songs, Creole people, The french Quarter, international taxi drivers, the Mayor, MoFest, the Mississippi River. I mean, so much to talk about!

But to keep true to the news page, first and foremost I will mention my American radio debut. Bill Berry and Tom Morgan at WWOZ invited me down to the station for an interview about the benefit I was playing for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. It's a great and much needed organization that provides health services to some of the best musicians on the planet. I was performing at the beneift at O'Flaherty's Irish Pub in the French Quarter (along with Allen Toussaint and others) and they had me into the studio to talk about the event. At 1:05 (CT) on April 29th, Tom popped in my CD (Chasing Lunatics) and spun Pollinate Me. He said, "I've always wished someone would say that to me!". The phone rang and listeners called the station to find out where they could but the record. We talked about the benefit and then I played "That Married Man". My publisher and good friend, David Hirshland (Bug Music) was there smiling and taking photos. It was quite a good time and the event that night was terrific. I played in the Ballad Room and sold out of CDS. It felt great to be doing something so possitive for the community.

For more stories and reflections on Jazz Fest, see the "essays" page.

Had a great time playing piano at Lunaria- honoring legendary songwriter Vic Mizzy (The Addams Family and Green Acres, amoung many more). Thanks Denise Bradley, Phil Swann, Randy Sharp and Harriet Schock for a great writer's round. Now I pack and fly to New Orleans! I will do my first American radio interview on friday night. Have a lovely Earth Day.

I just got back from the gig at the Call to Arts Festival. It was great seeing so many friends and musicians there. A lovely day and great sound, and some woman got up on the stage with me while I was playing Athena. I'm still not sure what that was all about. I had a little Cecilia jam with the announcer - that was fun. Good dancers in the audience too!

Records, records, records. My first CD, which has been released secondly, has been released! Does that make sense? Anyway the story is this: Two CDs...chasing lunatics... and the wheel. They are here and at CDbaby. com (better deal here).

In other news, I am playing Monday at an SGA night and am looking forward to playing a grand piano. The whole thing got me thinking about bringing a keyboard to New Orleans this week, as well as my guitar. I know Jazz Fest is going ot make me want to play piano! Can't wait. I'll play my piano songs for my first gig in the French Quarter. April 29th. (Check the gig page). Have a happy Easter and check back when you can.

I just returned from a great trip and tour in Austin for the annual South By South West Music Fest. Thanks to Jeff Harlan at The Lucky Lounge for booking me at your great venue and to my publisher David Hirshland for helping me navigate the extraordinay event. I heard inspiring music, distributed 9 pounds of CDs and sat on the dock of the bay and found time to pass out Peace Rally flyers. Austin is a fabulous town and I will never forget the friendly people I met at my show. Check out Jeff's good site at Women in Rock
